Botanical Bounty
Saturday, April 01, 2017 - Sunday, May 14, 2017

Lithographs by renowned botanical artist Maryrose Wampler which have never been on display at the Norton will be featured in "Botanical Bounty", along with some old favorites from our permanent collection on canvas and in porcelain and glass, including Peter Ellenshaw's rendition of impressionist Claude Monet's fabulous garden at Giverny and a 19th century still-life by Severin Roesen inspired by the Dutch Old Masters. Among the topics we'll explore are, naturally, flower symbolism in art, but also flowers that create a secret language, those that can be eaten and infused in both teas and wines, and those blossoms that provide medicines, or even, gasp!, poisons. There'll be quizzes to check whether you're a master gardener, or have a black thumb, if you know your vegetables from your fruits, or even what kind of flower you are. Be sure to join us for this trip through the Norton's interior garden of floral art.
