Bancker, Adrian (1703-1772)
Born the son of Evert Bancker, Mayor of Albany, New York, Adrian was apprenticed to the goldsmith Hendrick Boelen, the brother of Jacob Boelen, in 1718, and was admitted as a freeman in New York in 1731. He married Elizabeth van Taerling in 1729 and during the period 1733-36 he was collector for the South Ward in New York City. Bancker continued his silversmithing trade for at least thirty-five years following his admission as a freeman, for he advertised as late as October 23, 1766.
